My name is
Dan Hounshell and I have been a professional web developer since 1998. Along with building web sites I have also become the unofficial system administrator, software installer, hardware installer, network technician, and basic troubleshooter for all my friends and family.
Over the years I have put in many hours helping others get all the basic stuff setup on their computers: firewalls, anti-virus software, spyware protection, and other utilities for a fruitful life. I've taken plenty of "wrecked" desktops and laptops, cleaned them up and returned them to duty. However, because I don't have an unlimited amount of free time I sometimes have to turn people away or leave them with only a few words of advice and a list of URLs. Many times I've wished that I had a script or a "how-to" that I could hand out to help.
TheBestWebStuff.com will become that resource for me - a listing of the best web stuff, or the best computer stuff in general. While I am writing all this stuff down for myself, I will also be sharing it with you. Most of the time I will write about basic software that we all need to make our always connected existence safer, but from time to time I will venture off into the wild to discuss other utilities that I have used and recommend (like Ebay watchers). I may even touch on some basic development tools and utilities, too.
Feel free to leave comments and recommend your favorite tools and software as we go along.
